The International Academy of Advanced Conducting  after Ilia Musin 

Summer 2010

The International Academy of Advanced Conducting after Ilia Musin, St. Petersburg International Music Academy and Burgos International Music Festival announce a unique opportunity for conductors of all professional levels, age, gender or race to experience intensive study of advanced orchestral conducting styles with an internationally recognized faculty. Participants will have ample daily podium time to learn advanced conducting techniques based on repertoire selection. Ensembles and orchestra will be available for sessions and performances during the workshops. All sessions will be videotaped and reviewed by faculty following participant's rehearsal. Public performances will be held during the program at the end of each workshop.

Faculty include: Dr. Leonid Korchmar (professor St. Petersburg Conservatory of music, conductor of Mariinski Theatre) and Dr. Oleg Proskurnya (assistant professor, orchestras director of Beloit College)

At the conclusion of the workshops, faculty members may select one or more participants who demonstrate significant ability to conduct on a concert with one of the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestras or orchestra in USA during the 2010-2011 season, depending on the orchestra and winner's availability. Concert agents regularly attend academy's sessions and performances, which may result in further professional engagements for the selected participant (s). All participants will receive individual coaching (besides podium sessions) on the works they will conduct and will have master classes in score study, rehearsal preparation and orchestral techniques.

Interested individuals should send a completed application, $75 (nonrefundable) application fee, short resume (or bio) and videotape, if available (including the clear indication of which part of program they would like to attend - one or both).

Affordable room and board package is available. Upon notification of acceptance, a $400 deposit must be submitted with the balance due by June 1, 2010. No refunds will be made after June 7, 2010.

Participants will be selected on a first come, first served basis and number of participants is limited. Academy provides assistance with visa, travel advisement, and accommodation.
Participants should bring their own scores for selected repertoire.

guest conductors of Saint-Petersburg Philharmonic Society Symphony Orchestra for 2005-2006
season.
